Our Story

Nana-jeep's Balm

Hi!  Welcome to my website!  My name is Tyla Wildman, and my grandchildren call me Nana Jeep!

So, why Nana Jeep’s Balm?  You ask. My creams are all natural & organically sourced, for your hands and body – but with the added difference of being made with care.  The start of making lotion was serendipitous when my first granddaughter was diagnosed with a severe case of eczema. When her pediatrician prescribed steroid creams to be applied everyday sirens were going off in my head.  As a Registered Nurse for over 20 years, also certified in wound care, d I know the effects of long-term use of steroid cream.  It can thin the skin and be absorbed through the skin into the body. She was 2 years old.  I thought, hmmm, not. Believe it or not, my husband had given me the “best” Christmas present that year, a bucket of organic raw shea butter and another bucket of organic lotion base. (I kid you not!). He also threw in some essential oils (Oh, that man of mine!).  It was sitting on a shelf, and I thought, “Ok, for my granddaughter, of course! I will do anything!”. I decided to get to work.

That was 2021, 3 years ago now!  The beginning batches were just that; beginning batches.  My son said one batch smelled like pizza crust of all things, so I continued concocting. I researched essential oils, found some that soothe and moisturize eczema and many other dry skin problems. They will/can also calm the mind.  I have shared Nana Jeep’s Balm with my family, my friends, my professional nursing co-workers and many others. Obviously, I was more than thrilled with the feedback! However, the event that sealed it for me was the very same pediatrician’s updated diagnosis of my granddaughter’s skin. She couldn’t believe that my granddaughter had gone so long without her steroid cream and how happy her skin was looking!

Finally comes the company and product name. How do you choose a business name?  I was talking to a co-worker and she asked, “What does your granddaughter call you?”  I said, “Well, she calls me “Nana Jeep” because I drive a Jeep and to differentiate me from her other Nana - “Nana Yoga” because of her love for yoga, an activity they enjoy doing together. Born was Nana Jeep’s Balm - complete with our logo including my granddaughter Maisy’s favorite colors - pink and purple of course!!

Lastly, I don’t know about you, but I love lotions that work, smell good, and – above all - aren’t oily.  I can promise you Nana Jeep’s Balm is that, and a bit more.  A little goes a long way and you can wash your hands several times without losing the moisture.  Try my Shea Body Butter and a Shea Hand Cream and see for yourself!

My wish is for you to have the best skin as well!

Cheers,

Tyla
